Here are the basic set of rules to follow when you post in a thread in Open Campaigns:
- No Godmodding. What does this mean? There is no set definition. Basically, don't make your character unbeatable. Your character should have strengths as well as weaknesses. Ultimately, the GM of the thread will decide if a character is god-modded. If anyone feels wronged by a GM in this way, feel free to contact me about the problem.
- No Auto-Hits. NEVER take control of another Player's character in your description. Here is an example of what NOT to do: "I swing my sword, slashing [PCs name] in the chest and causing them to keel over." Here is how to narrate that same scene without auto-hitting: "I swing my sword, aiming for [PCs Name]'s chest. If the attack hits, it would surely cause a grievous wound." This rule applies outside of combat as well. Taking control of another's character even if not attacking is NOT OKAY.
- You will be Fatigued. PCs should not be able to fight infinitely. The more you exert the power of your character, the quicker they will become tired out. Following the same train of thought, when a PC takes a hit, they should narrate their character being damaged. After so many hits, any character should be out of combat. This all ties in to No God-modding. The GM should let their PCs know via PM if they feel the PC is not taking fatigue/damage into account appropriately.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If a GM plans to have a character in their thread that breaks one of these rules, it is allowed, but they MUST mark their character sheet as GM Character. Also, the GM should be clear about his intentions with a GM Character; they should never be used to simply kill off all of the PCs, for example. The mods will decide whether the intentions for a GM Character are appropriate.
If anybody (as in Dan) feels something should be added, PM me.
